Anyone who has ever been on a weight loss or habit change journey like giving up smoking will tell you there are no shortcuts and no quick fixes.
Because they have tried them all.
They have been through the mainstream medical gauntlet, only to come out the other side with a pile of pills and back-to-back appointments, yet they were still smoking and overweight.
Frustrated and a bit desperate, those same people then headed down the gimmick route, knowing deep down that they were going to be more than likely wasting money on quick-fixes like shakes, pills and promises that were going to fast-track them to reach their goals.
If there was the slightest chance they could get what they wanted without doing the work, and wake up a new person who didn’t want to smoke or eat doughnuts all day, they were willing to take it.
Sound familiar? You are not alone. We have all been there.
The quick-fix fantasy
The first thing many of us do when deciding that we need to make a significant change in our life – emotional, physical or habitual – is to get some advice. More often than not, we turn to our GP for a recommendation or referral. But right off the bat, we are totally looking for a quick fix. And if our doctor can rustle up some medication to help us get there; we are in.
It is only after exhausting all of these options and spending heaps of money and wasted time on pills that never seem to keep their promises that we realise that it is not going to be easy.
That is when the real journey to wellness begins!
The slow and steady journey to wellness
The hard truth is that if anyone wants to make changes to their lives, they have to start with their habits. It is the small actions that we take every day that consistently build us the life we have chosen. Once we realise that we are responsible for our actions and choices that we make every day, and take ownership of this, anything can change.
Once we stop making excuses for our chosen behaviour that is sabotaging our goals and dreams, we have the power to change them.
It is human nature to look at other people who seem to have it all. The beach body, happiness, wealth and other enviable traits. It’s natural to feel resentful.
Yet, those people who are out there and seem to be smashing all of their life goals are no different to you and me. They just choose to do things differently every day.
There is no quick fix or a one-time effort that will catapult any of us forward without doing the hard work and making consistent efforts and sacrifices.
Wellness is holistic
Whether your goals are financial, habitual, physical, mental or skills-based, change all comes back to wellness as a holistic overview.
Wellness encompasses all the different aspects of our lives – social, mental, physical, creative, financial and emotional. When any one of the areas of our life is neglected or made up of self-sabotaging habits, the rest will struggle to balance it out. This is why we can feel dissatisfied, frustrated and miserable.
For example, being financially secure can only do so much for your well-being if you are not fit and healthy. Being fit and healthy can also only do so much if we have chronic financial stress.
There needs to be a holistic balance. The quality of our lives that we choose is underpinned by the habits and choices we make every day.
Make your habits work for you
When you make a non-negotiable commitment to yourself to change one habit at a time, you can’t fail. We all wish there was a quick fix. But when you get to the root of the issues that are in your way, you can heal from the inside out and be free to pursue the life you have always wanted.
Alternative wellness modalities, such as hypnotherapy and spinal flow don’t require long-term medical appointments or life-long medication dependence.
Wellness therapies are non-invasive. They work by identifying the root cause of what is holding you back. Working through these issues one by one, sets you free from emotional anguish, guilt, pain and trauma.
The rewards of the long haul
There is no medication to mask what can be a confronting and intense journey. But the success rates are high and the chances of people returning to their old ways are low.
This is why so many people turn to alternative wellness. To help them find a solution to the habits that are holding them back from the life they so desperately want.
Alternative wellness doesn’t rely on a lifetime of repeat business or pill sales. As a qualified practitioner, I will tell you right away that you will have to do the work. But I am here to hold you accountable and help you navigate the journey so you can be the best version of yourself you know is still there.
