I’m Marg

I’m Marg Brassington, Holistic Wellbeing Practitioner and founder of Purposeful Life.

I’m also a mother, a country girl at heart, a lifelong lover of horses and nature, a ballroom dancer and someone who has always had a keen interest in motorsport.

But the path that brought me to Purposeful Life wasn’t a straight one.

It’s been shaped by hard work, unexpected change, difficult experiences, chronic pain and starting again. Along the way, I learned that sometimes the moments that completely change your direction are the ones that lead you somewhere you never expected to go.

My Story

For nearly 20 years, I worked outdoors in horticulture, maintaining grounds at a local cemetery and later working as a groundskeeper at a private college.

I loved my work, but a workplace injury eventually led to redundancy and the loss of a career that had been a big part of my life.

At the same time, I was carrying the impact of other difficult experiences. I had learned to keep going, cope and be strong, but eventually I reached a point where I knew something had to change.

During the COVID-19 lockdowns, I finally had the space to stop and reflect on where my life was heading.

That became my turning point.

Finding My Purpose

I began searching for ways to understand why we hold onto certain patterns, why past experiences can continue to influence us and why our physical and emotional wellbeing can feel so closely connected.

What began as part of my own journey eventually led to years of learning, professional training and a completely different direction in life.

My own experience with years of relentless back pain also changed the way I thought about health. I became increasingly curious about the nervous system, stress, breathing, metabolic health, cellular health and the many different factors that influence how we feel.

The more I learned, the clearer one thing became:

The body and mind don’t operate as separate systems.

That understanding became the foundation of Purposeful Life.

Why I Work Differently

My own journey taught me that wellbeing is rarely about one symptom, one answer or one quick fix.

I don’t believe people are broken, and I don’t begin by asking which modality someone needs.

I begin with the person.

What’s been happening in your life?

What has your body been dealing with?

What patterns keep appearing?

What might your body be trying to communicate?

Rather than looking at symptoms in isolation, I take a whole-person approach, helping you better understand the bigger picture and decide together where the most appropriate place to begin is for you.

My role isn’t to fix you.

It’s to listen, guide, educate and support you.

The Person Behind Purposeful Life

Outside of my work, horses and nature remain a big part of who I am. I’ve competed in dressage and hack shows, enjoy ballroom dancing and have always loved being outdoors.

For many years, I also proudly served as a Team Leader with the South Australian State Emergency Service. That experience taught me a great deal about responsibility, leadership and remaining calm when circumstances don’t go according to plan.

Purposeful Life brings together who I am, what I’ve experienced and what I’ve learned along the way.

“Living Life On Purpose” became my motto, and ultimately, it’s where Purposeful Life came from.
